    This portal site links you to articles and websites that deal with every imaginable facet of homeschooling. The site can be browsed by topic or searched by keyword.

  2. About's Homeschooling Links - About.com is a popular portal site, organizing information by topic and subtopic. The list of homeschooling subtopics and their respective links range beyond many traditional homeschooling sites.
  3. American Homeschool Association (AHA) - This is a service organization sponsored in part by the publishers of Home Education Magazine. Here you can join an email discussion list or subscribe to an email newsletter. The site is organized into two main areas, information on homeschooling and homeschooling resources. I particularly like the section of Book Reviews, Authors' Sites, and Book Lists that is found under the Resources umbrella.
  4. Best Homeschooling - Lillian Jones asked: "What's your best homeschooling advice?" This website details the responses she received from her homeschooling friends. You will recognize many prominent authors who write about homeschooling.
  5. Cafi Cohen's Homeschool: Teens & College - Author Cafi Cohen is well know in homeschooling circles. This website aimed at teens and their parents highlights her relevant books. Luckily, for us that is not all. A worthwhile site for college bound teens.
  6. Eclectic Homeschool Online - The goal of Eclectic Homeschool Online is to promote creative homeschooling. It is "published from a Christian world view" although material is not limited to purely Christian material. Those new to homeschooling may want to go directly to the Beginning Homeschooling page. The products review page is a good place to begin researching a product (especially curriculum) when considering one for purchase.
  7. Edupuppy's Homeschooling Links - This popular education portal has a homeschooling page full of wonderful links. Links are arranged by the following topics: Eclectic Home Schooling Method; Home Schooling Curriculum; Home Schooling Resources; Home Schooling Supplies & Materials; Montessori; Record Keeping; Unit Study Method; Unschooling Method; and Waldorf Method.
  8. Finding Homeschool Support on the Internet - Don't let the plainness of this site put you off. There are over 2000 web links organized by type of site and by topic. This is a good starting place to find, email lists and chat groups. Topics covered include: curriculum support, homeschooling children with special needs, foreign languages, and places for kids just to name a few.
  9. Home Education Magazine offers "free online newsletters, discussion boards, a networking list, and selections from the magazine, including articles, interviews, columnists, resources, reviews and more!"
  10. Home Educator's Family Times is the homeschool magazine written by nationally recognized homeschool experts. Each issue covers: research on education and homeschool issues, successful homeschool strategies, practical teach tips and how-to articles, special concerns, home educator's resource network recommended curriculum, and annual conference information.
  11. Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) - provides extensive legal and legislative information regarding homeschooling. This is also a good site to obtain current news stories. The site can also be accessed by issues in homeschooling such as religious freedom, tax issues, special needs, privacy, and parental rights.
  12. Homeschool Central Mall - products and resources have been organized in six main categories: curriculum, study resources, software, general homeschool, video resources, and home & family. Then like a true mall, you are directed to the retailer.
  13. Homeschool World - the official site of Practical Homeschooling magazine and The Big Book of Home Learning. The main areas covered by this site are: articles, indluding the opportunity to post a question to an expert in a field (postings are public and remain accessible on the website); contests; and events. The homeschool mall is also found here-you can find curriculum, software along with books and other supplies.
  14. Homeschool.com: Your Virtual Home School is chock full of resources from curriculum, phonics, family travels, and learning styles to computer skills. Besides articles and discussion boards, there are also classified ads, and subscription based online courses.
  15. Homeschooling Kids with Disabilities - offers information and support to people who have chosen to homeschool their children with special educational needs. Topics range from Adaptive Technology to support groups for siblings, You can also sign up to be on the email list.
  16. Homeschoolzone - a website for the whole family. This site is almost entirely a collection of articles that have been organized by theme. Teens will want to go right to the teen section, which features the accomplishments of other homeschooling teens. There are craft ideas, recipes, information on different teaching styles (Christian, Secular, Unschooling) and a section on Special Needs Kids.
  17. Jon's Homeschool Resource Page - Jon's Homeschooling Site is one of the oldest homeschooling websites, having been online almost eight years.There is a wonderful frequently asked question section as well as other recommended websites, and an extensive Online Discussion and Support Group section.
  18. Learn in Freedom™ - This non hierarchical structured website. There is information for beginning homeschoolers, college information for teens, and there are bibliographies galore. There is a search feature as well for those who know exactly what they're looking for.
  19. National Center for Education Statistics - Read their report based on data from the Parent Survey of the National Household Education Survey Program completed in 1999. You can browse the body of this report, download it as a pdf file or order paper copy.
  20. National Challeged Homeschoolers Assocciated Network (NATHHAN)- is a national organization of parents who home school their special needs children. NATHHAN coordinators Tom and Sherry Bushnell publish NATHHAN NEWS-an easy-to-use Internet magazine This Christian based site requires membership for full access.
  21. National Home Education Network (NHEN)- includes a wealth of resources including: articles, high school and beyond, new homeschoolers, military homeschoolers, local support, legal & legislative info, events and conferences, and a resource directory, for librarians, newsletter editors, and the media.
  22. National Home Education Research Institute (NHERI)-helps to fulfill one of the goals of their mission--namely to "serve as a clearinghouse of research for homeschoolers, researchers, and policy makers." To this end the most robust areas of this site are NHERI News, NHERI Research and Product Catalog. There is also a calendar of events and recommended web sites.
  23. Unschooling -has a section of essays; a networking section indlucing a message board, a monthly online newsletter, and an email list, as well as information on other support groups and organization; and finally, a resource section which includes, book lists, information on tools (my favorite is library card), and laws (arranged by state).
