How Do I Obtain A Library Card???

A Montclair Public Library Card is free of charge to those who: Live in Montclair - Patrons must show proof of their Montclair address, such as a driver's license, utility bill or lease. Children, ages up to and including 11, must have their application signed by a parent or guardian. Siblings cannot co-sign. ID: parent or child must show proof of Montclair address.

Montclair taxpayers who reside elsewhere, must present a copy of the current quarter's Tax Bill from the Township of Montclair, along with their personal identification. The card will expire December 31st of the calendar year in which it was issued.

Work in Montclair - acceptable identification is a pay stub or a completed "Works in Montclair Form" as well as a driver's license for home address. A business card is not acceptable.

Attend school in Montclair - cards for students through high school: for those students who go to school in Montclair but live elsewhere, acceptable identification is a tuition bill, printed schedule, or report card. School books are not acceptable.

Senior Citizen Cards - any senior citizen (65+) who lives in Essex County can get a Montclair Public Library card. Acceptable identification is proof of age and address.

Paid Membership Cards - cards can be purchased by anyone for $65.00. They are good for one year and can be used by members of the cardholder's immediate family.
